My name is Fathieh Wilkins. I am a Narrative Therapist and an educator in England. My work experience over the last 8 years comprises of various roles in community mental health, with refugees, asylum seekers, survivors of trauma, people who have experienced addiction and substance misuse, families integrating in new communities, couples working to overcome stressors caused by new life stages as well as some work in education, mentoring and teaching.
I have an affinity for working with individuals who migrated into a different culture, and who experience multiple stresses that can impact their mental well being, such as the loss of cultural norms, religious affiliations, social support networks. Having to adjust to a new culture can cause changes in identity and the experience of self. As a migrant myself, I am attuned to the unique stresses and cultural aspects that affect immigrants and refugees and can address the needs of this increasing and vulnerable population.
I am a graduate member of the British Psychological Society (GMBPsS), having obtained an MA in Narrative Therapy and Community Work, a Post Graduate Certificate in Systemic Family Therapy , and a degree in Psychology. I have also completed a PGCE with QTS. I can conduct therapy sessions in English, Romanian or Arabic language.
